Are you a fan of beans..well I love beans as these are excellent source of protein..they are also rich in vitamins, minerals and also antioxidants..this sounds really healthy right..this time I have come with delicious kidney beans curry famously known as rajma…who does not even like rajma chawal(rice)??..thats an absolute bliss to have rajma chawal in lunch..so mouthwatering and delicious…let’s cook this yumm..
Ingredients:-
Serving-4 people
1. 2 cups of kidney beans
2. 3 onions
3. 2 tomatoes
4. 1 table spoon garlic, 1 table spoon mustard seeds, 1 table spoon cumin seeds
5. 1 table spoon chopped ginger
6. 1 tea spoon chilly powder
7. 1/2 tea spoon turmeric powder
8. 1 table spoon coriander powder
9.2 table spoon butter
10. 2 table spoon oil
11. Salt to taste
Method:-To cook rajma ..soak it atleast 4 to 5 hours before cooking..
Firstly boil the kidney beans using a pressure cooker…add the beans and double the water for easy boiling..add 2 pinches of sodium bicarbonate to soften the beans…close the lid..put it on high flame…wait until it whistles for 6 to 7 times…switch off the stove and let it cool down..remove the lid…don’t stain the water completely..remove only the access amount of water because it add a beautiful natural color to the curry and makes the taste flavourful..
Take a mixer grinder jar to make a gravy..chop the onions and tomatoes into small pieces..put it into the jar..add garlics, mustard seeds,cumin seeds, ginger and grind it well till it becomes a thick paste..
Now take a pan…put it on high flame…let it be dry…add oil…let it be hot..now add the butter…let it melt…add the gravy and stir well..cook in medium flame…add the chilly powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder into it…mix well..cook until the water content of the gravy dries up…you have to stir time to time to avoid the gravy sticking into the pan..
When the gravy is done..add the rajma or kidney beans into it..mix well..you will see a beautiful tempting color of the curry..add salt…and again cook for 5 to ten minutes in low flame..so that the flavors of the spices comes out well..sprinkle some kasturi methi if you want to and our yummy rajma is fully ready to serve..
